Why Party Buses Are the Limousines of Today

Today, limos are thought about as rather old school. This is because of the arrival of the party bus transportation solution which has one-upped all the older modes of travel. In fact, party buses nowadays integrate all the luxuries that limos offer plus some new extras.

Also referred to as limousine buses or party rides, the buses are designed in such a way that they can carry up to 50 passengers. The buses you will make use of look like standard limos in the sense that they can be utilized for such parties as graduations, birthdays, and weddings among others. So well-known have they come to be that a lot of party goers today prefer employing buses from the top limousine companies when they have a fun event that they are celebrating.

Party bus transportation drew its inspiration from limo services. The buses are created like carriages implying that visitors will enjoy that exclusive feeling of extraordinary lavishness. When you employ these buses, you will freely have fun amidst such modern amenities as mini-bars, sound systems, impressive lighting and HD Televisions. These are the fundamental features provided by party bus transportation companies.

The myth going around is that leasing a party bus is much more costly because buses are bigger than many other cars. Nevertheless, the truth of the matter is that party bus transportation in fact costs less than limos. Also remember that more passengers can ride on a bus so the cost per person is even less.

The party buses have been made so that they could even act as the major venue for different celebrations. After all, this is why they are called party buses. They shine in comparison to limousines in the sense that you can dance while standing or even play numerous games when you get into one. Additionally, there are many vans available with varying passenger carrying capabilities and different layouts to match all kinds of parties.

Therefore, it goes without saying that hiring a party bus transport company will expose you to an amazing selection of amenities created to make the most out of your party event.

You will certainly get to take pleasure in surround sound with iPod jacks or CD players, Plasma display TVs, video games consoles, state of the art lighting including disco lights, strobe lights as well as laser lights. The comfortable materials and leather seats, refrigerators, and restrooms will also help to make your party even more memorable.

You must look at the bus interiors on the website to pick one that matches the party you are planning. After finding the best equipped party bus service, it is very important to make sure that you book the party bus in advance. This is due to the fact that these party buses are among the most popular transport options and, as a result, they attract many customers. This way, you will be assured of using the services of the best party bus service for your get together.

Historic Columbia Foundation Tours

The Historic Columbia Foundation owns several historic properties in the city. Three of the homes are open for tours year round. Other historic properties are popular venues for weddings and corporate events. The foundation also offers Second Sunday Strolls and Rolls, guided walking and bus tours of some of Columbia’s historic neighborhoods. These 90 minute tours are $5 for foundation members and $10 for non-members. The three historic homes are open for tours Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-4pm and Sunday from 1-5pm. Single house admission is $6 for adults and $3 for youth ages 6-17. Combination tickets to all three properties are $15 for adults and $8 for youth. Tickets are sold at the Robert Mills House.

The Robert Mills House and Gardens are located at 1616 Blanding Street. The classic revival style house was designed and built in 1823 by noted American architect Robert Mills, who designed the Washington Monument and other prominent buildings in our nation’s capital. The home later served as a Presbyterian seminary. Today it is furnished with period pieces and decorative arts from the early 19th century. The beautiful landscape reflects English gardens of the period.

The Hampton-Preston Mansion is located across the street at 1615 Blanding Street. The home was built in 1818 by a wealthy Columbia merchant. Subsequent owners planted elaborate gardens. The house was used as a Union Army headquarters during the Civil War and was later used by several academies and colleges.
The Mann-Simons Cottage, at 1403 Richland Street, was the home and business site of an African American family that occupied the property from 1843 until the 1970s. The properties remained in the family for several generations, and a number of businesses occupied the site over the years. Only one house remains today. The home belonged to Celia Mann, a freed black woman who was a local midwife.

The Historic Columbia Foundation owns other properties in town. The Woodrow Wilson family home, at 1705 Hampton Street, was the home of the future president during his teenage years. The Wilson family owned the Victorian structure from 1870-74, when Wilson’s father taught at Columbia Theological Seminary. The foundation is currently restoring the home. It is open for Hard Hat Tours on the first Tuesday of each month for $6 per person. The foundation owns the Modjeska Monteith Simkins House, located at 2025 Marion Street. Simkins was a prominent civil rights activist, who often opened her home to visiting national civil rights leaders.

The home is available for group visits and meetings. The Seibels House and Garden, at 1601 Richland Street, is believed to be the oldest house in the city. The structure dates to 1796 and houses the offices for the Historic Columbia Foundation. The home and beautiful gardens are a popular venue for weddings and corporate functions. The Big Apple was originally a synagogue, then a night club. It was moved from its original location in 1982 to its current site at 1000 Hampton Street. It was acquired by the foundation and may be rented for special events.

Ashish Desai is the General Manager for Hilton Garden Inn Columbia/Northeast. A top choice among other hotels in Columbia SC, this newly opened property is located just off I-77 at exit 11 near the Northeast business district and is conveniently situated just 15 miles from downtown Columbia.

Superpower of the World – Touring the USA Affordably

New York is the most popular destination among foreign tourists, followed by Disney World in Orlando. Both of these cities are particularly well equipped for visitors and offer a truly satisfying tourist experience. Natural wonders like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park are also top attractions as they showcase some of America’s most resplendent natural endowments. Bustling, cosmopolitan cities such as Washington DC, Las Vegas and Los Angeles are Meccas for the corporate, retail or leisure travellers.

Visitors to Las Vegas are urged to explore the mysterious Grand Canyon in all of its natural splendour. Helicopter tours over the top of this natural wonder are a firm favourite, and need to be booked in advance to secure a place. The Grand Canyon All American Helicopter Tours’ air-conditioned helicopters with commentary are the ideal way to enjoy a bird’s eye of the West Rim, Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. The entire tour lasts approximately 3.5 hours and includes a bottle of champagne enjoyed under a Native American Ramada nearly 1000 metres below the rim. To end off an exquisite flight and humbling champagne, the helicopter passes over the bright lights of the Las Vegas Strip, after which a limousine will transport guests back to their hotels. A maximum of 6 people can be accommodated in the helicopter. A total of three to four flips are offered per day, depending on the season. Lunch is included.

The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam Day Trip is another fantastic way to enjoy the magnificent crevices, valley and peaks of the area. This tour allows visitors a rewarding four hours in the canyon with the option of taking a Skywalk. This involves the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the Grand Canyon with a 365-degree uninterrupted view from this elevated, glass-bottomed pier that extends off the edge of the Canyon. Hoover Dam enjoys optimal viewing from the Arizona Lookout Point, from which visitors are able to take photographs for a full 20 minutes. This is followed by a walk through the Joshua Tree Forest and, from here, to the West Rim of the Canyon.

For visitors to New York, the Niagara Falls Day Trip by Air is an awesome way to see the majestic falls from both the America and Canadian sides. The qualified guide will make this exciting trip even more informative. Transfers to and from your hotel are available and passports are essential. Depending on the season, visitors will either be taken on the Maid of the Mist boat at the falls (May to October) or will visit the Journeying Behind the Falls (November to April). Both of these are humbling experiences as the thundering water churns out an icy mist. Bring your raincoats! The entire trip takes about 14 hours (including flights and the bus trip).

When eating out in the United States of America, 15% is an acceptable tip. For porters, $1 per bag is the norm. As with any other destination in the world, travellers are advised to be aware of their surroundings, to minimise the amount of valuable photographic and/or other equipment carried on your person, and to avoid certain areas at certain hours (ask your hotel for advice regarding this).

Leavenworth Washington – How Bavaria Came to America

In the 1800s, towns sprang up all over America. Wherever people had a way to make a living, whether it was mines, mills and timber, or the railroad, towns grew and thrived. When the base of the town’s economy disappeared, many became shells of their former selves, often ending up as abandoned ghost towns.

On a lonely pass in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State, the town of Icicle Flats sprouted up in the same manner as many towns before and after it. Pioneers in search of gold, furs, and farmland displaced natives as they staked their claims to the area’s land. In the 1860’s gold rush era people mainly settled into the icicle flats area where the Icicle River and the Wenatchee River meet, with the original town built there.

In 1893, Charles Leavenworth led a group that platted the current town site, naming it after him. By the end of the century the Great Northern Railroad came through town, its tracks following the path now taken by Highway 2. With the railroad came jobs, logging companies, and mills. The town thrived and grew.

1910 brought the nearby Wellington disaster. Avalanches swept two trains off the tracks, killing 96 people. The 1920’s brought much change to the area. The railroad built a safer route and moved their headquarters to Wenatchee. Without convenient railroad transportation, the sawmill closed. The great depression hit in 1929 and many stores closed. People left for lack of jobs.

Leavenworth barely hung on, a dwindling city that could easily have become a ghost town like so many others. Only the determination and cooperation of city leaders and the few remaining merchants turned things around after decades of struggling to survive in the throes of a dying economy.

In the early 1960’s the community decided to do something to save themselves. Inspired by the resemblance of the mountains surrounding the town to the German Alps, they settled on a Bavarian theme in hopes of attracting tourists. Business owners remodeled the town on their own without help from government grants. City leaders passed a building code for the downtown area, requiring all buildings to adhere to the Bavarian theme. Many people wear Bavarian style costumes to work in the shops and hotels, or while providing entertainment in the park.

The abundance of hotels, shops, restaurants and tourists in Leavenworth today attests to just how successful this plan became. The community offers a series of parades and festivals throughout the year, with the ever popular Christmas tree lighting ceremony topping the list.

People arrive daily by car or bus, the abundant hotel rooms rarely going empty, especially on festival weekends. The train once again comes to town with the recent addition of an Amtrack station giving people one more way to avoid the parking crunch near the center of town.

Not just a destination in itself, Leavenworth’s location just east of Stevens Pass also makes it an ideal jumping off point for people seeking adventures beyond the nearest gift shop. Winter brings skiing opportunities and sleigh rides, summer offers river rafting trips and horseback riding.

The hotels in town are as varied as they are plentiful. Some upscale hotels even have indoor swimming pools. Most have seasonal outdoor pools. While the higher priced hotels tend to not allow pets, no doubt to keep the rooms in tip top shape, some of the more moderately priced ones welcome pets in at least some of their rooms. Dogs are even allowed in a few of the gift shops in town.

Bed and breakfasts or nearby campgrounds offer more options of places to stay. One hotel (Der Ritterhof) even allows camping in its field for those who wish to stay right in town in their trailer or motorhome.

While walking through town, wine tastings never seem more than a few steps away. Many wineries have shops offering samplings of their wares. A multitude of restaurants provides all manner of cuisines, Sweet shops abound, and the Christmas store isn’t the only place in town good for Christmas shopping any time of the year. Jewelry, clothes, and gifts line the shelves of many shops, all decorated in charming Bavarian style. Forget your sun hat? No problem, there’s a whole store dedicated just to hats.

Visit the nutcracker museum, take a walk by the river, or a short drive to nearby Cashmere for a tour of a candy factory. Play golf right in town on a putting course with real grass, watched by friendly goats.

The town of Leavenworth found much more than a way to survive in adopting a Bavarian theme. It found a way to thrive and grow while providing a great vacation destination.

Hoover Dam Tours – Guaranteed to Thrill Las Vegas Visitors

Located just outside Las Vegas, NV, sits Hoover Dam, a 700-foot-tall, arch-gravity structure that has tamed the mighty Colorado River for nearly 75 years. Exploring this National Historic Landmark is open to the public at large: Bus, helicopter, and plane tours will take you right into the heart of this engineering marvel, delivering an unforgettable experience.

Hoover Dam bus tours are hands down the most popular way to visit the dam. Packages include hotel pick up and drop off. The standard route is to head east from Las Vegas, passing through Boulder City, then into the Lake Mead National Recreation Recreational Area. From here, you descend slowly into Black Canyon until you arrive at the dam.

En route, most tour buses feature either live or taped narration about Henderson, NV, Boulder City, NV, the Dam’s construction, and Lake Mead. Here’s some Hoover Dam primer facts to get you started:

Dam height: 726.4 feet, which makes it the second highest dam in the United States behind the Grand Coulee Dam based in Washington state.
Dam length: 1,244 feet. The dam spans Black Canyon and the Colorado River and connects the states of Nevada and Arizona.
Dam thickness: 660 feet. In addition to holding back the river, the structure features a two-lane road, which, before 2001, was frequently used by trucks to haul freight
Traffic across the Dam: 13,000 to 16,000 per day
Annual number of visitors: 8 to 10 million
Named after Herbert Hoover, the 31’st president of the United States. He was the commerce secretary at the time of construction.
Number of workers who died during construction: 112

You’ll spend about two hours at the Dam. You can either explore it by yourself or take a guided tour, which is free and includes full access to the Movie Room, Exhibit Rooms, and Observation Deck. Also highly recommended is the Generator Room – a small fee is required but it’s well worth it.

Other things you can do while at Hoover Dam include:

Strolling the dam from Nevada to Arizona and back (about 20 mins.)
Photographing the “Winged Figures of the Republic,” a pair of bronze statutes placed on top of an astrological chart done in the Art Nouveaux style
The Old Exhibit Building – Incredible architecture from the late 1940’s
The Nevada Intake Tower: Get up-close to the mechanisms that use wate to generate electricity.
If you are interested in taking your Hoover Dam tour to the next level, consider adding:
A helicopter flight
A plane ride
A boat cruise

Flight times for both helicopter and plane are usually 20 minutes. Get incredible birds-eye views of Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, Black Canyon, and Colorado River tributaries. Or cruise Lake Mead (the largest man-made lake in the U.S.) by boat and drift up close to the the dams river-water-intake structures.

On average, Hoover Dam tours take five hours. If you add a flight or cruise to your bus tour, add an additional 1.5 hours. Any way you slice it, Hoover Dam, which is one of the elite Modern Wonders of the World, is an attraction you must add to your list of Las Vegas attractions.

Many Tours And Travel You Will Surely Like

Talking about tours and travel, maybe everyone is not interested in working in this industry but almost everyone is interested in taking trips. It is fun going away for awhile on a fantastic tour or just taking time to travel around to different places and see what the rest of this world looks like.

Most working folks get a vacation every year and many of them choose to go away from home on their vacation time. If you only have a week to see anything, it is better to take a tour instead of going it alone. By taking the tour, you will be in the hands of a professional person who will make sure that you get to see all the highlights at the destination of your choice.

When you decide to take that trip of a lifetime, you have thousands of places to choose from. You could decide to go to the far east, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, or the Philippines. Perhaps it could even be someplace like Guam Island or some other islands out in the pacific.

The Far East and South Pacific are fabulous, but there are so many other places in the world that you would spend a lifetime to see them all. There is also Europe, where there is a never ending supply of great places to visit and tour around. Some of the names that come to mind are romantic places like Paris, featuring the Eiffel tower. There are many museums that are available to everyone. Once you get out of Paris and decide to see some of the countryside of France, you will be amazed at all the beauty that is out there.

One might consider going south, taking a week tour of romantic Italy, to visit some of the great statues, buildings and shrines created by the great masters. Germany is another great travel destination. It boggles the mind to think about all the fantastic castles you can see in Germany, not to mention all the great food.

If you had to list all the places and things you wanted to visit in Europe, you would probably not have time to finish the list. Places like Greece, Sicily, The Netherlands, and the wonderful Scandinavian countries might be on that list. How about going down under to wonderful New Zealand with its two beautiful islands, north and south, with Auckland being the capital on the north island, and Christchurch being the capital on the south island. By the way, Christchurch is the last stop before heading to the Arctic Circle.

After New Zealand, one just might want to head over to Australia, the continent that was once home to criminals and aborigines. My, my, what time will do. Australia is home to many great cities, with a never ending list of things to see and things to do. One of the great wonders of the world is the Great Barrier Reef. It can even be seen from outer space.

This is just a sampling of many tours and travel destinations available and it just never ends. You probably thought that there were many places to go to in this world. Well there are, and so many more. It is hoped that wherever you decide upon, you will choose wisely and be sure to talk to at least one tour company to get some expert advise before you go. Happy travels.

Many Tours And Travels Available To You

It is that time of the year once again, when one gets the urge to take a trip somewhere where life will be different for a week or two. Perhaps everyone should try to take that much needed vacation at least once a year. By doing so they will be less stressed and their minds might at least remain sharp. Why not get away for a week or two. Don’t worry, call your travel agent and book a couple of tours and get ready to revitalize yourself.

This trip can be for one even though if it is possible to find a friend, the trip might be a bit more enjoyable for you. If you might be traveling as a single person, it usually will turn out alright. Some of the tour companies do have tours for singles and they really know how to make your tour the most enjoyable and exciting time of your life. When it is over you will know that you have been catered to by a company that really knows how to show singles a good time and make their trip really enjoyable. That is their business and they love to do it.

If there are two traveling together, it is rather nice for both. You may be friends or you may be married and traveling with your spouse. If there are two traveling, you will be able to make some of the decisions about the places you want to see and things you both want to do along your journey. You certainly will have someone to talk to, dine with and if you are with your spouse, you will certainly be able to take advantage of those romantic moments when they come about.

If you are traveling with your family, then you are really in for a treat. If you are taking a cruise this year with the family, then all you will need to do is sit back, relax, have fun and enjoy the voyage. Cruise ships have many programs available for families to take advantage of while on board the ship. It really is true that the ship could possibly keep the small kids busy for most of the day. They will be well supervised.

Most teens and younger adults may worry about things available to them while cruising. They know they’ll be seeing some very fantastic places that they have always dreamed about. They just don’t know what they’ll be doing with their lives to keep things interesting and to keep them busy while getting from place to place.

It really should be no problem for the teens and younger adults to keep busy while on board a cruise ship. There are many activities for them to enjoy. There are movies and younger adult clubs. They also have dances for the younger set, games, swimming and sometimes rock wall climbing and exercise classes. The list goes on and on.

For the adults, and the whole family for that matter, the cruise ships have wonderful food all day long. You just can not hardly imagine all the food available. There is always breakfast, lunch and dinner. Of course, there is always food in between meals, and the famous midnight meal is magnificent.

If a cruise was your choice for a wonderful vacation this year, then you will probably go home satisfied. Your travels to different places and the many tours you have taken along your journey, were many and all wonderful. Now go home and get ready for next year.

Hoover Dam Las Vegas Tours

Las Vegas-Hoover Dam tours come in all shapes and sizes. Bus, helicopter, and airplane. Take your pick. Each offers a great way to experience this western icon while in Vegas.

The dam is located a mere 45 minutes from Las Vegas. The arch-gravity structure has been holding back the Colorado River for more than 75 years. The dam epitomizes what it means to be huge. Check out these facts:

1. It’s 726.4-feet tall, making it the second tallest dam in the U.S. behind the Grand Coulee in Washington state.

2. It’s 1,244-feet long. The dam crosses formidable Black Canyon and connects Nevada with Arizona.

3. It’s 660-feet thick. Before the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge opened in Oct. 2010, the top of the bridge was a two-lane road on which 13,000 to 16,000 cars crossed daily. How popular is the dam? Between eight to 10 million people visit it annually, coming by bus, helicopter, and airplane.

Bus tours are the most economical way to see the bridge. Trips include hotel pick up and drop off and lunch. The motor coach goes through Henderson and Boulder City, NV, and then along Lake Mead National Recreation Area before descending into Black Canyon. Now starts your Hoover Dam tour, which may include:

1. Strolling atop the dam from Nevada to Arizona.

2. The official U.S. Government’s V.I.P. Discovery Tour of the Interior (takes you to the bottom to see the turbine generators at work).

3. Exploring the Visitor’s Center’s exhibits, movie room, and observation deck.

It’s possible to bundle a helicopter flight, plane ride, or boat cruise into your bus tour package. Trip duration for the basic bus package is 3.5 hours.

Helicopter and airplane air tours are also available. Flights leave from Las Vegas every day of the year. The flight plan includes Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. Helicopters fly at a lower altitude than airplanes, which usually include Hoover Dam as part of a Grand Canyon West Rim air package. Tour duration ranges from 3.5 hours to 5.5 hours. Both packages bundle free hotel shuttle service.

Reserve your tour to Hoover Dam in advance. There are two reasons for this: 1) It’s cheaper; and 2) you’re guaranteed to get a seat. For the cheapest prices, I strongly recommend you purchase your tour online. Buy direct from the tour operator if you want the best price. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but it’s the company that’s running the tour that will sell it to you at the lowest price.

Hoover Dam tours are perfect for travelers looking for a quick day trip from the Las Vegas Strip. There’s an adventure for every budget. Bus tours are the most economical. Helicopters are best for getting a true bird’s eye view of the dam. Airplane tours include the dam as part of the flight to the West Rim. Hoover Dam’s been fascinating visitors for years. View it airborne or by foot – you will not be disappointed

Student Travel Recommendations For the

The excitement is building for the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington D.C. For student tour groups that are traveling to Washington D.C. for the presidential inauguration there are specific rules which must be followed for this event. Security for our new president is a top concern among the intelligence and crime fighting community. Not only do these professionals have to do their part, but each American that attends this event will have to observe the rules to ensure greater security for all.

It is predicted there will be over two million people attending, so the lines are going to be long. Security checkpoints will be common and unauthorized belongings will be confiscated. Avoid losing your property and prepare appropriately.

Following are some requirements for inauguration day. Please read this list carefully if you are attending.

1 – Please do not let your group carry baggage of any kind, no umbrellas, coolers, strollers, canes, chairs, knives, thermoses, signs, posters, backpacks, packages, bags exceeding 8″x6″x4″ or anything that might trigger security concerns. There are no childcare facilities. All attendees will be subject to security checkpoints and if you have any items not allowed, they will be confiscated.

2 – There will be around 10,000 motor coaches transporting groups into Washington D.C. The coaches will not be able to get the groups in close, so I advise you to wear very comfortable walking shoes as student tour groups will most likely be walking long distances (up to 2/1/2 miles) and standing for several hours. The coaches will be parking at RFK Stadium or elsewhere along the route and either taking a shuttle, metro or walking to the Mall area.

3 – Dress warmly in layers and wear a raincoat, as umbrellas will not be allowed. It can typically be a rainy or damp 37 degree day on Inauguration Day in Washington D.C. which is in the full throes of winter. So, dress appropriately.

4 – Student travel groups may have other activities scheduled for the Presidential Inauguration day. In that case, don’t be surprised if they have to be cancelled. It will take much longer than usual to get to the Mall and departing will take a significant amount of time also. A tour escort will be in charge of your trip and can guide you around that day. Be patient with your guide, do everything that he or she asks of you, and be prepared to spend a lot of time waiting. You are very fortunate to be attending this inaugural event and our advice is to just go with the flow and enjoy the celebration.

5 – Plan to eat early and get on your way to the Inaugural event. An early breakfast at 6:00 or 7:00 a.m. will allow student tour groups to get to the Mall to be in line for the security checks starting at 9:00 a.m.

6 – If all goes as planned, student tour groups will be inside the Mall area for the Inauguration event on time. Many student tour companies will not be able to guarantee arrival on time. The parade is not scheduled till 2:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. Groups will depart for a motorcoach as soon as the parade is over.

Student travel groups and others are looking forward to the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington D.C. They are excited about witnessing history. Take care and follow instructions carefully in order to truly maximize enjoyment of this student trip. Be aware of surroundings and do not carry disallowed possessions so they will not be lost at checkpoints. Remember to leave items not allowed on the bus or in the hotel room. Student travel companies, tour guides, teachers, students and parents main concern is that everything goes smoothly and that students are secure. Be flexible and most of all have fun!
